Well Ive been hesitant to say this out loud, but here goes............we are about to take a major trip to New York this week. I say major because, Jon David has never flown and there is a lot of unknowns that we will have to deal with. We are excited and afraid. But we want to go support Kelly in her marathon on the Christopher Reeve Team. We spent Friday talking to our Doctors about the trip and as well as following up after the recent hospital stay. One doctor was all for it another a little hesitant, but gave us a prescription for antibiotics, talked to us about hospitals up there etc. So baring anything coming up this week we will leave on Thurs. Please pray for us. We really NEED to do something like this.......and yes I know NYC with the crowds, Ebola scare, terrorists etc.......but we are firmly in Gods hands and I know he will help us handle anything that comes up. We also have family in that area, so that helps also. We spent yesterday trying to decide what to pack and take with us. Its pretty overwhelming. I think that if we get by with only 5 bags we will be lucky. We have several machines that we will be taking with us also. So the airport experience will not be fun, but a learning experience. Our flight leaves at 6:45 am. its the only direct flight out to NYC, so there will not be much sleep that night, if any. But thats the best flight for us to take. A major concern is that his chair be handled correctly. It weighs 450 and will be hard to load onto the plane , and there are many parts that can be damaged if not loaded correctly......so pls. Pray about that for us! I want to thank each of you that have donated to Kellys marathon. She is currently in first place with her fund raising and the Christopher Reeve Foundation is doing amazing things in their research. I feel strongly that Jon David will directly benefit someday from all the exciting treatments that are being developed. Your support and encouragement is a huge blessing to us......THANK YOU! Monday we start back in our full therapy routine! Henry will be back from his vacation, I think hes kinda enjoying this retirement stuff :). We are looking forward to seeing him!
