Well, Texas is behind us and were back to the grindstone. The fishing was tough to say the least. The qualifier on Saturday only turned in 77 for first place. We managed an 8 pound toad during pre fishing but finding a consistent pattern was difficult. I forgot a part I needed for my sonar unit at home and it really hurt me on the day of the tournament as I was wanting to do some deep cranking but could not locate the spots without sonar. I boated one keeper early in the day and lost another at the kayak. I also caught two fish that were a half inch short. With ten minutes left in the tournament, I found the area I had wanted to fish when my crank connected with some rocks and immediately I caught two big ones. Unfortunately there were other species nearby and I caught a big drum and some white bass which wasted precious minutes I needed to round out my card. I ended up with 3 fish for 52.25 which was good enough for 16th place. Caleb fished a shallow water area with a good looking weed line but the spot didnt pan out at all. The rest of the midwest group struggled as well but our good friend Kevin Slifer managed a limit fishing a texas rig in the weeds and took 7th place! Here are the final results and a picture of the big fish, a personal best for me. Thanks for the support, yall! -Kevin
