Well. That was a tough ride. Hornsby to Orange 250km. I set off from home yesterday at 3.40am. Leaving Hornsby 30 minutes ahead of the others. It was cold. VERY cold. I waited for sunrise but it didnt bring any warmth. Finally climbing Kurrajong Hill and making it for the first time I started to warm up. Met the girls at Mt Bilpin and heard Paul had turned back. At least the worst was over. Or I thought it was. Mt Tomah. Mt this, Mt that. I climbed and climbed and climbed. Saw the support crew for onebody cycle group who were cycling to Lithgow. They were lovely giving me some sunscreen and water. Arrived Lithgow and Onebody also arrived but they hadnt caught us. Hooray. We then continued on to Bathurst and finally the last stint of around 55km to Orange. Darkness fell. It started to get cold again. Just as we arrived in Orange Marie was hit by a car turning left. I saw it all happen as though in horrible slow motion. Very scary. Somehow Marie was okay. That girl honestly has 9 lives. Definitely a cat. Today left 5.30 am. We cycled back to Lithgow and trained home from there. Marie couldnt use all of her gears and was still a bit shook up and Meredith and I decided to try the train ride as well which was a bit of an adventure with the bikes.
