Well... Today to be festive, I based class on sucrose(table sugar). We talked about how its harvested, refined, its structure, & its magical ability to be transformed into yummy things with a little water, heat, & chemistry. Here are some things I learned from today... 10th graders love fresh home made caramel... They also think making rocket fuel out of sugar is awesome... Sugar based rocket fuel puts off a lot more smoke than you realize... Theres not enough ventilation in my science lab at the high school to handle a demo on making sugar based rocket fuel... The new smoke detectors work great... It only takes about 7 to 10 minutes for the fire department to get to the school...
