Well. Tonight I have been reflecting on the year that was and the year that will be..... 2014 has been a year of many celebrations for our family and friends. Being the ancient 50 year old that I am, I also have 50 year old friends (Go figure) We have seen Julia DeSilva turn 50, Andrea Louise Smith Andrew Maeer and myself all celebrating in a BIG way so that has taken up a lot of our holidays and long weekends away. (Not complaining.... Love an excuse for a party) Apart from that, the year has been filled with work (to pay for these celebrations) far too much wine, (I had no choice with all the birthday celebrations) and anticipation for the big Speech pathology graduation for Georgia Walters who passed with flying colours. Of course, her hard work and commitment ended with THREE job offers and she decides to take the one in Cairns beginning 12th January........ (She even got a fourth interview but declined as the Cairns job was the one she wanted) So this brings me to the year ahead..... The year will have a very bitter sweet start for me😔We always wanted our children to follow their dreams and never settle for second best but I am wondering at this particular time what I must have been thinking😳 I am sure many other parents have been through it before (I did it to my mother when I was 22... And ironically, the move was also to Cairns) and many will follow, but I am anticipating a very big adjustment period over the next few months and may need some words of wisdom and a wine (or two) occasionally to drown my sorrows😢 Once I get used to this major change in the Walters household, we will then be looking forward to the next big trip booked and planned..... A Baltic Cruise this time in August and then three weeks spread through Berlin, Prague, Salzburg, Munich, Paris and Amsterdam. This time its just the two of us. Sam Walters will need to be the chief house sitter for this one. Anyway my beautiful friends and family, hope you are all welcoming the new year with someone special and hope 2015 brings all that you deserve.
