Well, after 6 weeks of sinus congestion/infection, I finally gave - TopicsExpress

Well, after 6 weeks of sinus congestion/infection, I finally gave up and went to the Memorial Hixson ER on Christmas Eve afternoon. I thought, that after all of it, I may have pneumonia, or other...as I was really feeling rough. When I arrived, saw some facebook friends(friends from another church) there in the waiting room. Shortly, I was taken back into a room for blood pressure checks, temp., and what symptoms I had. The rooms were full, at the time, and I had to wait, as others, for a room to clear, which wasnt long. After I was escorted to an ER room, tests began, along with an iv injection of nausea med. Then, x-rays/other x-ray tests, and a flu swab(nose test for flu), along with a swab test for strep throat occurred. After all said and done, it was determined from a positive swab test of inside of the nose, that I had INFLUENZA. Although, I had the super flu shot for folks over 65, the flu shot was found to be of not much use this year. I always take the flu shot, as did this year, but it was said, that the CDC, had apologized for the error, or whatever you would say that some strains were not included this year, in the shot. If you think, even you might have the flu, please see your doctor. It has really been bad...vomiting, aches in joints, pain in chest from coughing, and other that go along with the flu. I was talking with my cousin in St. Pete, and he stated, probably from news reports that there were deaths from the flu...several were children(and wouldnt doubt, many Senior Citzens, too). Please, check with your doctor, if you think you might have the INFLUENZA VIRUS. This is not anything to pass off, as the flu must be dealt with... I remember a bad case of the flu, in 1958, when I was around 11 1/2 years old. It was horrible, I remember the high fever, vomiting, those aches and pains, leaving you weak, so weak. And, doctors made house calls then...Dr. Robert J. Pitner, our family doctor, came out with his medical bag, and came to my couch-side bed. I didnt wont to miss the first time Mickey Mouse Playhouse, Sea Hunt, and other shows, in the mid-50s that came on. We didnt have tvs in every room then, as a tv was expensive back then...black and white tvs were over $500.00 each...lol. Once, we had a color television for awhile...dad said it hurt his eyes...actually, I believe it hurt his billfold...lol. So, the color tv went, and back to the home was the black and white...our friends were Roy Cox TV & Appliance, in Red Bank, TN. We lived in Hixson, TN, back in the time. Well, if you think you might have the flu, and things are not getting better or well...get to a doctor/or emergency room/clinic/or primary care doctor for medical help. Do not wait, as things can turn into something worse, like pneumonia, or... I missed the Christmas morning breakfast with my family, and the Christmas dinner with family. However, I was brought leftovers from those, and they were good. Praise the Lord, that the diagnosis was found, and my first time using Tamiflu was experienced. Hopefully, the flu will go away...cant wait, you feel miserable.
