Well, another of my childhood landmarks is being taken down. They are disassembling the original community boat dock that belonged to the residents of Cedar Crest Acres. In 1966 I helped to build that dock with Howard Trammel (the same man that built our house). It was a hot summer and I accidentally dropped my hammer in the lake several times during the day so that Id have to dive off the roof and retrieve it. At the end of the dock was the largest stall, which was home to the Bobby-Ann, our 25-foot cruiser. Robert and I took a last look Sunday while the crew was gone. The roof is off of the main dock, but the large slip was still intact. I have included some shots of the slip the way it was in the 60s, with the Bobby-Ann parked inside and the swinging door hinged up. Dad is in the picture.
