Well, didnt even make it a week before I got the first ridiculous call from the kids school. I answer the phone, its Jacob. Hi mom. Hi Jake, whats up? I wrote on my name tag on my desk. Huh? I wrote on my name tag. Jacob, is the person youre in trouble under, right there? Yes, hold on. Now, I get the new, first year teacher. Jakes teacher for 2 subjects. She stated Jacob, and some other students wrote on their name tag on their desks. It was DEFACING school property. I asked, did they (he) know they were not to write on them? She stated....she didnt feel that needed explained. Are they paper? I asked. NO. She replied. Okay, what are they made of.... I asked. Card stock. So, I say---eh, thick paper? Yes....was her answer. Okay, did he write something bad? I asked. Her answer...no. I went on to say, this is a ridiculous phone call. I cannot believe you have stopped his day, and yours....to call, for this. She replies, Im sorry I bothered you?.....I quickly corrected that....no BOTHER if its a REAL situation warranting a phone call home. He should have been told to not continue drawing on HIS paper name tag and IF it continued then....possible note home, missed recess...IF even then. But, a phone call home. Silliness. Ive left a message with the principal. I really hope her and I are on the same page---I cannot do ANOTHER school year like this.
