Well, dont ask me when we are getting discharged! LOL! We have been prepared for discharge since Sunday. Today, we got some new info and we could be here until Friday, which is fine b/c we dont want to leave too soon. Emilys echo was reviewed by Dr. Del Nido, the surgeon. He also confirmed that everything was functioning as it should and he is very happy with the results, which leads the drs to believe that the reason for the low oxygen saturations is from her lungs. Emily had another x-ray this morning and there is still a pocket of fluid around her left lung. We were told it went down a little but its still there. Her left lung is also slightly collapsed. This sounds worse than it is. Since she has been laying in a bed for a while and not been active (jumping, playing, crawling) like she usually does, her left lung is not fully functioning. She needs more oxygen intake (deeper breaths) to work on expanding her lung back out. To fix both of these problems, Emily is being given quite a bit of diuretics and will have chest pt (physical therapy) every 2 hours until her x-ray tomorrow morning. This is going to be a very long night. I am hoping and praying this will fix these problems quickly b/c this is going to be exhausting for her (and me).
