Well, friends, I did it. I went and saw Grease tonight at East Peoria Community High School ten minutes from my house. It was a great show. It combined elements of the original play and the movie, so a lot of the songs were out of sequence compared to how they appeared in the movie. Also, the car race is impossible to pull off on stage or so I would imagine. The car did appear on stage, though, a few times. Some of the lyrics to Greased Lightning were changed because they are a little raunchy if you listen closely in the movie. The actors did a great job because I can imagine that its not easy to sing or dance so much onstage and its not something I would ever be good at. I do think some of the singing was a little off at times and could have been stronger and some of the dancing also seemed off at times, especially when so many people were dancing at once. A couple of lines were flubbed, too. The guy playing Sonny said at one point Rizzo, I mean Marty when he was addressing Marty. So many of the girls playing leading roles, including the ones playing Frenchy and Rizzo, were so beautiful that it made watching them soooo much easier. I would say where were they when I was in high school, but the answer is probably still in elementary school. ;D The whole show was so great, though. I am very glad I went.
