Well guys, my day for orientation is over and I am officially an employee. I have been hired at the new Waffle House that will be opening in March on Altama Ave as a graveyard Grill Operator. But in the mean time, Ill be working at the SSI store as a cashier on the weekends. They are going to actually train me even though Im considered a veteran employee. It may seem like a pain, but Im actually pretty excited about it. Not only because I get to learn all the new stuff thats changed over the years that I havent worked there, but also because I was never actually trained to begin with. When I started working there 12 years ago as a waitress, I was told to come in for my first shift at 2pm, and was given a ticket book by the manager as he was walking out the door as I was walking in to work. He at least told me goodbye and I was left there with me and the cook, who happened to be my stepfather. I didnt know how to take an order or call out an order or ring up tickets, etc, and there was no one there to show me what to do. As for learning how to cook, I was told by a manager one day that he needed me to work a double when my shift had ended because he needed a cook. He handed me an apron. I told him that I didnt have any experience as a cook, and I was told that it wasnt hard and to do the best that I could. To be honest, my skills got good enough that I could do a $1,000 shift by myself as a grill operator (which is a big deal). So I look forward to gaining those skills back considering I havent cooked there in about 6ish years. So after 12 years, Im finally being trained at the Waffle House lmfao. I dont work again until next week when I train as a waitress. Then I have a week break, before I train as a cook. The reason for the breaks is because I have a lot of appointments for my kids at the time. I have a few appts for Connor, and appt for Koda, and a Wic appt. I cant change the appts, but they were willing to work around them, so thats awesome. So yea, Im pretty happy about this. At least with me working graveyard, I dont have to worry about a babysitter. I just have to worry about getting sleep, lol. :)
