Well, here goes. I have decided to end my contract with TAPIF early and return to the United States in the beginning of January. Im writing this post because I know a million people will ask me why Im leaving, so you all can read this and I can avoid giving my answer a million times :) There are several reasons why Ive decided to leave, but the main reason is that the teaching position I have isnt what I expected it to be. My main reason for coming to teach in France was to grow as a teacher and gain more, and unique, teaching experience. As an assistant at my school, I havent had the opportunity to co-teach or collaborate with the teachers, or create lesson plans or substantial activities. The teachers often cancel their classes with me, which leaves me with no work to do. Therefore, Im not using or furthering my teaching skills. I feel like Im being unproductive with my time, and Im not the kind of person that sits well with idle hands. So Ive decided to return to Lincoln and start working on my Masters degree and ELL certification. I adore France, I adore the friends Ive made here, and I got to meet some wonderful students; this semester has not been fruitless. However, I dont think staying here another semester will be as beneficial as I need it to be to justify staying. Also, this is only see ya later, Europe. Mom ( Michele ) and Brian already have their plane tickets purchased for April-May, so Ive decided Ill just make a vacation out of it and come back with them :p And there you have it :) Im happy with my decision, and Ill see you crazy Americans soon.
