Well here is the basic animation, The general motion is set and the shadows work right. From here the animator (me) would fine tune the motions. First there would be a little camera shake. Notice that the camera being so unmoving is not a good thing. Just a little camera motion will make the scene far more natural. Now while the landing gear open and position just fine notice how it fully deploys right at the moment it touches the ground. No one flies that perfect also the gear does not sag a bit as they take the weight of the craft. We will adjust the animation so the gear are fully deployed before they contact the ground and have them sag and spring back when the weight settles on it. We will also add a little pitching motion so the craft does not fly so perfectly straight. Finally We will add some debris and dust that will be kicked up by the engines creating the illusion of the jet thrust the craft flies with, While these tweaks are tiny in the grand scheme of things they are what makes the difference between an interesting shot to one that fully fools the viewer. I have to make the changes all at once as this short 12 second clip took over 50 hours to render. Think about it to get the realism in lighting and shadow it takes roughly 20 minutes to generate a frame and this clip has 360 frames the animation plays at 30 individual frames per second. Make sure you click on the HD button at the bottom right to see it in HD. The jerkiness is Facebook not the video.
