Well, it has been a VERY emotional couple of days for me... Hopefully you know about my involvement with the I Run 4 organization. If not, please see my blog post about it and my amazing running buddy, Toby (Wendy Carroll), here: imronman.blogspot/2014/05/a-match-in-time.html . Anyway, I Run 4 recently named a buddy and runner ambassador to be the public face of I Run 4. That buddy ambassador was Drew. EVERY day we were treated to incredible stories of Drew overcoming the challenges of his conditions to embrace life with a zeal that few people of ANY ability possess! His mischievousness and sense of humor was a hit and he garnered countless fans in a very short amount of time. There were MANY days where I aspired to be more like Drew, simply taking things as they come and appreciating all of the blessings I could count! Here, my usual way with words fails me. Drew fail ill last week and passed away on Thursday. Today, I did an 81-mile bike ride, immediately followed by a 6-mile run as part of my IRONMAN training. That workout was dedicated to Drew and I thought about him, looking down on me, many times. Somehow, God knew what I needed and 76 miles into that ride, it rained. Hard. Not only did it cool me off, it gave me a chance to do something very needed... cry for Drew. So, anyway... if youre so inclined, a prayer for Drews family, the I Run 4 family, and me too would be greatly appreciated. And please be thankful for how truly blessed we are to be able to do all that we do on a daily basis. Thank you!
