Well, it seems that our local newspaper, the Richmond Times Dispatch, is going to try out the airline business model on those of us who still subscribe, a dwindling breed. They sent a letter saying they are now going to slap on a surcharge for those big, heavy papers they deliver on Thanksgiving and Christmas days. I dont know how the newspaper - a dying business model - thinks it will keep its reader base or attract new people by charging us extra for things that used to be included in the price. Its a fact that people absolutely hate all those extra fees the airlines are gouging us with, so hey, lets do the same thing to our newspaper customers! Thats an IQ test, and they fail. Theres lots of good news material out there on the internet that we dont have to put up with this to read, including the website of the Richmond Times Dispatch. So share this on Facebook, and you might consider Calling David Kirkman, the Circulation manager, and let him know how you feel about this. The customer service number is 804-644-4181.
