Well, it was 16 years ago today that Lisa and I were married on a cold, sunny day in upstate Buffalo, New York. We beat the show by a few weeks. (The Kingdom Hall we were married in collapsed and had to be rebuilt a month later because of the massive snowfall.) The hoard of friends and family we invited from New Jersey, Florida & New York City partied with us at the aircraft hanger-like indoor Richs Corporate Center in downtown Buffalo where we danced on an indoor island in the middle of an indoor lake by the light of gas lamps. We stayed our first night at the exclusive Adams Mark Hotel where we were awoken by the sound of jack-hammers at 7 a.m. because they wanted to renovate their ballroom and of course the kitchen was closed because of the renovations. (We ate at the Pearl Street Grill) We then took the shuttle to Toronto to stay overnight before our 4 a.m. flight to Barbados. At the hotel in Toronto there was some sort of convention and there was a party in the room next door until the early morning hours. (I called the lobby to complain and told them I was calling The Mounties...) We dragged ourselves to the airport to catch our plane that we made just in time. We had plenty of time to rest and enjoy ourselves in Barbados because it rained most of the week. This was actually fortuitous because to my horror my mother who helped pack my Barbados bag bought me a Speedo instead of traditional swim trunks. (I think I used that Speedo once...as a shower cap...) Im just glad we missed the snow by a few weeks or else all those fun memories wouldnt have happened like they did. :)
