Well, just a few more days left in our campaign for Imperial County Assessor. It has been a long, hard journey and we are not at the end yet. However, I very much want to thank my supporters and would offer the following observation: There is no Justus in this world. My wife and I made the determination years ago, that we would return to our Native County and run for Imperial County Assessor. My two boys were also supportive and willingly walked house to house and politely asked for votes for their Dad. No “Justus.” My sister, Attorney Mercedes Zaragoza Wheeler also walked house to house asking for votes. No “Justus.” Friends started calling up and offering to walk precincts: No “Justus.” Friends started following me on Facebook and urging me on. No “Justus.” Even a 12-year old little girl (Haley Purvis) prayed for me just before bedtime: No “Justus.” My 95 year old mother reminded my sister that “it was her obligation” to help me….(way to go and “thank you” Mom) and yes, yes……my Mom has always been there for me….no…..what’s the word? My 76 year old brother, Ziggy and my 67 year old cousin Jose Martinez Zaragoza offered to help put up and maintain signs (in fact putting the same signs up numerous times…..way to go “wind”) again. No Justus. A friend from Brawley offered to record an endorsement for me….Thank You…Gracie Edgar for the Loan of Clyde’s voice….No Justus.. So this campaign has never been about me…….it has been about US. We want change in the County Assessor’s Office. We want fairness, we want efficiency, we want training, we want access (Realtor’s Association) and it is not going to come from the same person that has worked there for 20 years and NOW wants to reinvent himself as the “agent of change.” Also thank you very much to all who contributed $$$ to my campaign. It was a tremendous help. Things were never dark; there was always a ray of light and oftentimes the light was brilliant!!
