Well, just got the confirmation. After years of issues and many many test and seeing 3 different surgeons, after spinal injections, tons of medications, chiropractic care, physical therapy, a nerve test, many many x rays, and 2 recent MRIs, I am scheduled for surgery on September 2nd. This has been a long road with my back and is going to be a long road ahead. I have to have fusion surgery on my lower spine. At first look they thought I could get away with a couple screws in my spine, after more test results it wont be enough. My L5 is slipped 15 mm offset from my L5 and S1. My L5 and S1 nerves down my left side are pinched off, they found 2 hairline cracks in my L5 vertebra so just screws could make the cracks bigger and cause more damage than good. On top of it my disc below is gone and the one above is going. I was hoping something less invasive or something that would give me more mobility. Unfortunately they cant go less with out causing more damage and theres no other kind of therapy that would fix the mechanics of my spine. Ive known this was a possibility for a few months, but went for several other medical opinions first. I want to work, I want to play with my kids with out pain, live a normal life. If I put this surgery off Im facing paralyzation in my future. I believe in capitalism, but it seems my body is a socialist society, I have options, they all just suck right now. Well there it is, got the call this afternoon and surgery in just over a month, fusing my tailbone all the way up to my L4. This is a long road ahead, not looking for pity, just a little support. There it is, sorry I kept the secret so long.
