Well my dears, I pretty much fell dramatically short of my ideals of being the perfect Southern gentleman-turned-New Yorker host this evening. While I may have visions in my head of a banquet table decked out in fine china and Ralph Lauren table linens, the reality that my out-of-town (out of the country really) guest Xander was treated to tonight was quite different. He confirmed that my apartment looks like a tornado blew through it. At least I can blame that part on moving. Not as much can be said for that horrible moment when he discovered a bug in his drink, or the even ghastlier moment when it was discovered that I was all out of toilet paper in the house. Since I already topped out at the very pinnacle of embarrassment, turned several shades of crimson and almost had a fainting spell right in front of Xander, I figured I might as well share all of this with you, my darling friends near and far. Why deprive ourselves of a good laugh, even if it is at my expense? Life is too short. Laugh a little.
