Well now. Allow me to make a bold prediction. Due to the advancement in technology right now, it is so much easier to develop new breakthroughs from first stage to practical use in a fairly quick fashion. With that being said, I estimate that within 10 years scientists will be in early stage experimentation with teleporting small objects and having them remain intact. Within 20-30 years, I expect teleportation to become the standard in the shipping industry for items up to a certain size. Instead of a mailbox, you would have a teleportation box where you receive your mail. Unfortunately, I dont expect the teleportation of living beings to make it past the mouse phase. Even if physically intact, being ripped apart atom by atom and then put back together could potentially reset the brain. You may come out with a functioning brain, but likely no memories, or you could come out in a vegetative state. As far as memory storage in electronic devices erasing, such as an operating system, they would likely do some sort of thing where you would receive the item, connect it to your computer, and whatever company sent you the item would provide you with a link through email that would have whatever files you need to install on said device. The same, however, can not be said about the memory in the human brain.
