Well one of my worst scenarios came true tonight, coming home on a night I had class (and an exam) and finding a horse down. It was clear that Mick, who was to be 31 this year, was not going to make it. Mick was on the trailer home from my first trip to New Holland in 1998. Purchased for $500.00, Mick was a NSH (National Show Horse which is a mix of Saddlebred and Arabian). He had shown on the A rated show circuit in saddleseat and due to downsizing he found himself at auction. He showed successfully on the amateur circuit after I adopted him out. To look at these pictures you cant even begin to appreciate the beauty, elegance, and show quality he possessed. I will never forget watching him being ridden at New Holland bareback with a double bridle, showing his heart out for the meat buyers. Mick went on to have a good life cleaning up the ribbons and even ridden in parades in arabian costume. He loved to show off in the ring but could turn it right off and hang his head for toddler to pet outside of the ring. Unfortunately he came back after being adopted out for 8 years, but he enjoyed his retirement. He lost his girlfriend Sugar last year but still had his pony Tricks to keep him company. He was a grand guy and will be truly missed. Im sorry I truly meant to thank Leroi Was Here and Ariane K. Nichols for keeping me sane and helping me through this tonight before class. Also thank you to Ruthie Franczek for coming out so quickly and helping him cross over. Without them I never would have made it to class in time and gotten that exam out of the way so I could have that breakdown I deserve!
