Well that about says it. My few times overseas was also punctuated by some of the same questions. Our foreign policy has been led by men who were favored in their own draft status (Bush), and men who did everything to avoid going to war (Cheney). It has been embellished by a small crew of maniacal war mongers whose loud and apologist mentality has bankrupt us and sent us spiralling out of control. The influx of both refugees from regions thrust into conflict has been a common theme of American foreign policy. War may be inevitable, that is a sad fact, but its initiation and its conduct remain truly within the capability of reality not in fantasy. We should have thrown the entire administration in jail for the lies that ultimately got us into Iraq. But we didnt, instead we searched around for a justifiable reason to say we did the right thing, and based on the intelligence, we didnt. I am not blaming 9/11 on our policies which are, at best, confused. I never did, but we certainly need to step back and critically look at how we run our affairs. The Dulles brothers were advocates of using our military as a tool for our business interests (Read the book Brothers abiut the Dulles brothers, and it seems we have taken that lesson to heart. The media, especially the reactionary right, wants you t ot live in fear. Wants you to be afraid and wants a simple and easy bad guy to be your object of said fear. They tie christianity so much so into the equasation that now a President has to claim his religious affiliation. As a country of free faith that seems particularily constitutionally insulting. We have been a duality ever since we were created and on those early days i doubt the founding fathers would have wanted us to be stigmatized by a rasical mentality. They wrote the constitution kbecauseit wohld change not because it wouldnt. If it wasnt amendable then the 18th, prohibition amendment, would not have been repealed. Basjc history for thosewho hide behind thr 2nd Amendment. Tax cuts have led to disasterous results in Kansas and New Jersey, but the lesson, they dont work, is missed and now our retirees will face the ckean up. Another missed opportunity history left us. Simply put, the public sector, which has never caused a financial crises, will have to fix it. Well we will never learnand now that Mitch McConnell has suggested that tax payers be on the hook for adventurous wall street gambkes it seems we will face another potential financial mess. So in the future if i plan an overseas trip i will have to face more questions regarding our behavior.
