Well, that was fun....I was heading home from the field with the last load of corn for the day about 5 p.m. and was about a 1 1/2 miles from home when the frame on the running gear of my back trailer snapped and caused the front right tire to give way. Luckily, I had already crossed highway 68, but was in the middle of the gravel road. Needless to say, the tractor gave one helluva jerk and started pulling hard and the trailer raised a huge dust cloud. I was able to stop and the front trailer appears unharmed but my plans to go Knotts Corner for steak tonight were changed (Damn it!). We were able to get the damaged trailer unloaded with a grain vac and then hooked it up to the 3-point hitch on another tractor to pull it home, after lots of running around for tools, etc., plus trying to block the road on the highway end to keep traffic away. Many, many thanks to Mike Scheiber, and Jeff and Jonathan Knott for all their help. Finally got home sometime after 9. Still too wired to sleep....
