Well, that’s all the new kitchen units fitted, and sincere thanks to HIC, with Yvonne Mackay and Alex John. There are now just a few electrical connections to make, put down new lino and paint/paper as we need to. Herself came back tonight after a few days away and she is generally delighted with the finished product, apart from a few wee details…which we would be surprised at if she didn’t have something to say! No doubt she’ll sort everything into cupboards and drawers on Monday as she wants them, and then I’ll have to rearrange it all to make it functional. That’s just what I do ! :) Anyway, here’s my point. We stripped off the tiles and changed the electrical sockets, and what a mess that left the walls in. Holes here, there and everywhere, scraped walls, and general defacement. But we’re going to fit a splash-back on Monday which will, I am assured, give us a whole new brilliant frontage to hide all the inner disfigurement. And isn’t that so like us…wanting to look so good on the outside, and yet hiding tons of things inside ourselves. That applies to Christians every bit as much as it does to non-Christians. We all have our scars and scrapes from the past, we have all had our ‘moments’ which we should never have survived, and we have all failed in so many ways. But if our trust and faith is in Jesus and if we have Him as our Saviour, then he is there to intercede on our behalf, and that’s everything! But it is infinitely more serious to non-Christians because it means that the ‘good front’ that you put on has no foundation of salvation on the inside…it just leaves yourselves...and thats serious! Please consider this tonight, any of you who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus, because He, and He alone, is the only one who can change your life. You call out to Him, you keep on at Him, you tell Him that you are really serious,…and He will answer you. I won’t forget these old kitchen walls for a long time to come!
