Well the meeting went well, Jims discharge is set for April 21st, two weeks from today. I think this was a relief to him as he has gotten quite sick of the hospital regime, I knew the minute his pain was manageable he was going to be wanting out. He feels he has no purpose here anymore and will be looking forward to going home. With going home are apprehensions as this new normal life has yet to be lived in home, we spent a great deal of the morning just trying to go thru insurance things, hopefully now the ball is rolling and he can move forward to other treatments and care and can pick up the parts of his life where he left off. I stressed that he needed a proactive doctor, and not one who was closed minded to alternative medicine or holistic health care, and in the same respect was a doctor who is up on the latest trials for spinal cord injuries. A lot to ask for I know right, so again many prayers needed. As I too realize going home will be closing this door and opening another, it will be nice for the first time in months not to be surrounded by constant tragedy, I have seen some pretty horrific things between here and Duluth and all I can say to you all is if you have your health you are so very blessed, and dont take it for granted for a moment.. I met a man who lost his limbs to an infection, he had a simple out patient procedure and ended up with a staph infection losing arms and his legs, he is now here for prosthetic limbs, or a young boy who was 25 working in China riding a scooter, hit the curb was thrown thru a bus stop and has had a head injury that at first crippled him, and two loving parents who take care of him and have brought him so far, I see this stuff everyday and when I wish for Jim to be better a feeling of guilt comes across me as why him and not all the rest, as I read different stem cell sites with stories of hope, with their promises and not so many promises, or is it snake oil.. lots of research to be done before any of the stem cell, it sounds promising but some have consequences and risks some have none, again just a reminder.. take today and be grateful for what you have, and the safety of loved ones.
