Well the night and storm are both over the speaker was very moving and inspiring but what would you expect for an opening session. The rain ceased as we walked outside to head back to our hotel. We were met with a Mariachi Band and Ice Cream Social setup by the Lions from Texas and from that hours of social time meeting up with Lions from Hamburg, Oak Brook, Facebook, well from just about anywhere and everywhere I have been the past few years. Best part is I bumped into PIP (Past International President) Sid Scruggs, he is the man that gave me my International Presidents Medal back when I was a Zone Chair and my one regret from that year was I never had the chance to shake his hand and say “THANK YOU” well tonight I had that chance and I told him how much it meant for a mere Zone Chair from Michigan to be presented with the 2nd highest award this organization can give out and I really appreciated his faith and recognition. He told me he remembered each person he gave those medals to and he remembered me and he “Thanked” me telling me those awards were earned and deserved. I couldn’t help but smile probably looked pretty goofy but it’s nice to know what you try to do matters. PIP Sid will be the speaker at our C1/E1 District Convention this year and I will have the chance again to thank him in front of the same crowd of Lions that saw me received my award. Looking forward to it. Well off to my room the morning will be here before I know it and it’s a day of sessions and socializing tomorrow better get some sleep. Go Lions!
