Well there goes another wonderful Family Day at the Motuoapa Marina at Labour Weekend for the children in our district and visitors alike. Our grateful thanks to our sponsors again this year, your efforts this year were outstanding. We are expecting next year to have a more expansive theme, as an unexpected interest has assured us they want to be on-board in the future. Special thanks to Didymo Dave for his presentation throughout the afternoon and our Harbour Master Phillip King for his Marina Development encouragement and interesting display. We are anxious to find enthusiastic people to assist us next year with this event and probably that will mean people living here as opposed to others outside the district. It is not difficult, just a little time in the month leading up to the event. Would be ideal for a local community group from Turangi or close by. Thanks again to all the kids that participated, up 20% on last year. The picture of the $800-$1000 fly rod was won in a raffle of around 20 tickets only. My wife was the lucky recipient but we decided to redraw and the Principal of Tongariro School Steve Allen (my neighbour) won it with his ticket.
