Well this has been a very interesting week to say the least. On top of breathing issues, blood pressure problems, issues with his port we had a wild night. Last night Brody kept complaining about his arm itching,well I took the tape off and his hand was swollen and come to find out the fluid was leaking under his skin, the IV wasnt working :( so we had some amazing nurses come over from 3C and she was able to start a new IV line in 5 minutes. So we get that started and actually get some sleep last night. Well Brody woke up this morning and wanted to use the restroom, so off we go.As Im sitting there I look him over as usual he tells me his throat is itching really bad and wanted me to check for an ulcer In his mouth. Well upon inspection I notice the insides of his checks are swollen. We call the nurse and she gets the dr over here and he stops all The medicines and orders a chest X-ray and gives him a dose of Adarax (sp?) They believe this is all side effects with fluid displacements. So weve walked the hall a few times trying to move the fluid, he will probably start him on lasix. Im so lost and I feel totally helpless!!! Please pray for us bc if we dont get this straight we may have to stop treatment. My mom and I are exhausted to say the least. She did let me sleep last night and she took care of Brody. I dont know what I would do without her. God is still in control and will bring us through this.
