Well this is a fine mess... Several weeks ago I ordered tickets for Steve & Laurie, and Sheila & me, for John McCutcheons show at Eddies Attic in Decatur. We have been a fan of John for 30 years. A couple of years ago we drove to Rutherford NJ to hear John in concert with Pete Seeger and Tom Paxton. Weve heard him at the National Storytelling Festival and at the Peach State Storytelling Festival. He is a masterful songwriter (Everyone knows his Christmas in the Trenches) storyteller and musician. He plays guitar, banjo, fiddle, hammered dulcimer, and who knows how many other instruments. So, to put it mildly, weve been looking forward to this. Then last night, about halfway through a wonderful Tellebration program, I realized something was amiss. Sore throat. Chills. Sweating. Aches. All of that got worse as the night progressed. This morning I laid out of church with a low-grade fever ( 100.8 ) and general misery. So now my wife and friends are going without me. Ugh. Still havent got that fourth ticket allotted... but a couple of good possibilities. Sheila says shell call me and let me listen to a little of it.
