Well, this is sad to say but our 2014 BBQ competition season is over. This was truly a full season for us as we cooked 11 KCBS contests as well as The American Royal Invitational and American Royal Open. (Last year we only cooked 5 KCBS comps.) We feel it was a great year for us as out of the 11 comps, we finished with 25 total calls (2 plus per comp average) 7 top 10 overall finishes 4 top 5 overall finishes Our first Reserve Grand Championship Our first Grand Championship We also had two top 20s at the American Royal Invitational with 17th in chicken and 18th in ribs and a top 15 call at the American Royal Open also for chicken. Although it is fun to keep up with stats and all that stuff, thats really not that darn important. Sure, everyone wants to win but just being part of the BBQ family is winning in my book. I have made so many new friends both on the competition trail as well as right here on Facebook and thats been the best part of this journey! There are a few folks that I want to personally thank for various reasons. Jason Cole for introducing me to competition BBQ last year. He is the pitmaster for The Hot Coles and a true class act. Timothy Schopp for genuinely working his heart out any and every way possible to promote BBQ in Wisconsin which has helped a lot of new teams including myself grow. Scott Smith from Southern Q Smokers and Trailers for building what I consider the best and most affordable gravity feed smokers out there for me. Makes my job a lot easier! LOL Mitchell Bedwell , for being a true friend and also helping me promote our A Fine Swine sauce down south to many BBQ teams and helping us have crazy big growth as a result! Tommy Houston, John Cossman, Tim Schopp, Richard Parker, Mark Rasmussen, Ryan Horace, Nathan Dexter, Randy Boswell, Pate Cossman, Rick Pasch, Wayne Blessing and so many others who wish to remain anonymous that promote and or use my sauce. Darren Warth for convincing me to use my own sauce on brisket and allowing me to win brisket at Westmont the next day! (I was one of those guys that didnt ever sauce brisket) Finally, I want to thank my sponsors. Springer Mountain Farms Black Earth Meats Colorado Premium Buedel Fine Meats UW Provisions We will be offering up sponsorship opportunities for BBQ teams for 2015 so if your wanting to use our sauce as part of your competition recipes and willing to promote it, please inquire within. Time to spend the offseason cheering on my fellow friends as they continue to compete on a regular basis! Thanks!!!
