Well what a pleasant surprise I had this evening. It was the AGM for ARK, that is Action for the River Kennet. There were several interesting speakers including a man telling us how endangered eels were becoming. Also the good news that Thames Water will be taking much less water from the Kennet from 2016 due to the immanent construction of an 18 km pipeline from Blunsdon to Whitehill reservoir, south of the M4. Swindons demand for water is ever growing. Just before the meeting was concluded they had an award for the volunteer of the year, imagine my amazement when my name was called out!! There must have been over 100 people present, so I now have a gift voucher for M & S, lucky me.
