Well what a weekend the Exposure Night Race was as usual a superb event with a great atmosphere, opera singing, top riders competing , a cracking course, good weather ,excellent prizes and some sterling club performances. The fun event looked like a club event as WDMBC riders headed the field and benefited from the regular training session at the venue. Thanks to all those that helped out in any way to put the event on, especially, Karen, Shari and Nick and those that got their early to help out with setting the lights and gazebo’s up. I cant understand why we dont get more entries as there is such a buzz around the event and where else do you get a free burger and coffee after your race. The following days duathlon was another success in terms of those taking part enjoying the event and club results but was again suffering from a lack of entries and a few club people that had said they would help out not turning up. I am not sure if either event will run next year, it is a phenomenal amount of work putting them on and certainly we need to attract more numbers if they are going to go ahead and need some more club members rolling up their sleeves to give a hand to help with them. Full results are up on the club site and thanks to Paul W should also be up on the blackparkraces.co.uk site along with race reports. On the race front, the ever improving Neil Ellison won the latest round of the Central Cross league as he continues to return towards the heady heights of cycling performances that he achieved in his youth with Sean 5th and Jorge and Siobhan also taking part it was a good show from the Black and yellow jerseys. Looking ahead to this week Club night and the road training have already been and gone, not a big turnout at cub night, everyone obviously recovering from the weekend races, Tuesday I could not make the road training so hopefully we got a good turnout. I am working late so will not be organising the MTB training tonight (Thurs) and think it would be a good idea to let the tracks recover a bit before we commence training/riding again at Black Park. Ok so what is happening this weekend , Saturday afternoon we are having the annual club Knobbly Tyres 10, this is simply a case of riding 10 miles individually on your MTB on the road and being timed with the fastest rider winning. To make it interesting there is also a handicap system where I give you a time allowance to take of your actual time so even if not the fastest you have a chance of winning. Bribes for a good handicap are welcome! As is usual we will present the prizes at a local eating house, normally a curry house but this is yet to be confirmed. The details of the course are on the forum and the event starts at 4 with the van leaving Uxbridge at 3 for those that want a lift Sunday we are going to have a change and do a road ride to avoid the muddy tracks for a while meet at 9 a.m. at the Malt Shovel, remember the clocks go back so no turning up an hour early! We are hoping to have enough people out to have a couple of ability groups so dont be bashful turn up and come along The following week we have to make the decisions if the Tuesday road training is going to carry on through November and what about a Halloween night ride on the 31st October, any suggestions where to go,Black Park, Look Out, Dorney Loop, post up if you fancy it and where. Looking further ahead the dates for the clubs 2014 Pryeneen road trip are 22nd June to the 29th June, a number of people have already stated they are coming, I know this is a long way, away but to take advantage of cheap flights and make sure we can find accommodation we need people to fully commit to this in the next few weeks and then a deposit will be required by Mid November. There are a few people looking to order some winter clothing, we need a minimum order before we can place an order so if you are after anything post up on the forum on the club site. I do have some bibs shorts and jerseys in stock ALSO TOMORROW (Friday)I AM PLANNING ON BEING AT BP FORM 9:30 TO REPAIR SOME OF THE TRACKS DAMAGED AT THE RACE IF ANYONE CAN SPARE A FEW HOURS TO HELP THAT WOULD BE GREAT, RAKE REQUIRED. Notable dates 26th Oct Knobbly Tyres 10 and Curry 7th Dec TBC Club Christmas Do 9th Feb Calshot Track 23rd Bucks Road Reliability Ride 22-29thJune Pryennes Road trip
