Well, what a weekend to kick things off! While Sunday didnt host any side saddle action (apart from my own!) Saturday saw what could be considered a great turnout for our first come and try day. The weather was overly kind to us as sunshine beamed down while we saddled up and sideways on. There was a lot of discussion around saddle fit, sourcing saddles and the problems we face with these things. There were three horses in attendance who all went aside for the day thanks to myself, Amber Knapp and Frances Hughes as well as Ruth McFarlance pulling her two lovely ponies out of the paddock for a spin for those who wanted to give something a little smaller a go. High tea boasted an array off egg sandwiches, cakes, slices and some Auzzie sausages in bread. After lunch, those that really wanted to put the mornings learnt skills to the test popped themselves over a couple jumps. Once all the fun was done and had, the real work begun and the first Victorian Side Saddle Association Committee was formed. The minutes of the meeting were taken by our lovely Secretary and should be made available to all soon so you can see what was discussed. Wed like to thank everyone who attended the day, those that bought horses, rode or even just spectated and we cant wait for our next side saddle day to be even bigger! Thank you, Stacey :)
