Partially to be ironic, but partially because the gospel here tells of a saviour who displays actual emotional turmoil, even with the knowledge of Lazarus impending resurrection, Jesus still found Himself emotionally distraught at the passing of one of His companions. Even as God is infinitely greater than the struggles of man, He is found right in the midst of the pain and suffering alongside those who are grieved, let us not forget that the God we serve is, in some ways, vulnerable, and even when He can use His power to reverse the affects of a fallen world, He is still grieved by the suffering of His children.
