Wendell Potter, a national expert on Health Insurance, spoke on - TopicsExpress

Wendell Potter, a national expert on Health Insurance, spoke on the Ed Schultz radio show today(AM 95 in twin cities). There is a great threat Potter described to Junk Health insurance, which is overpriced, and has limited, loop holed, benefits. The pending major improvements through Affordable, Regulated Health Insurance will place real competition in the market to benefit families and individuals who are outside of group plans. Some benefit insurance also is presented as family coverage, but has limited coverage when medical care is needed. Poor, single parent families can get trapped in jobs that are economically limited, have a bullying work environment, and unsafe work conditions, for the terrible health insurance. The total household income can include this insurance, which is costed at 25 to 40 percent of a families income. With better national insurance options, at lower costs, there could be a real economic opportunity to shop the job market, and actually move up to jobs that pay better, and offer better security, respect, and safety. The added competition for workers could also force a real gain in actual income, which relates to increased pension and social security benefits later. If the minimum wage was addressed quickly by congress, this could be an added increase in real income for working families now and into retirement.
