Went on a corn run a little while ago for me, the missus and a special guest, and traveled a back road through a very rural N.H. town. What struck me was that on the road, there was a small bridge under reconstruction, meaning the two-lane road narrowed down to one lane. But there was no flagmen (or flagwomen) or temporary traffic light to manage the traffic. Just a sign warning that the bridge was one lane. Id like to think that the selectmen and road agent thought the locals were smart enough to figure it out, and by gum, as I went through, they were, approaching cars taking turns to cross the bridge. Perhaps common sense isnt quite dead yet.
