Went out for lunch the other day and had half a sharing bread board to start and a chicken, bacon and avocado salad for main. Sounds reasonable right? Checked the macros online when I got home, 960 kcal! Yes, almost 1000 kcal for some bread and a salad. That was far higher than I estimated. If there is almost 1000 kcal in a little bread and a salad, how much do you think there is in that Chinese, a massive lasagne with garlic bread, burger and chips, Indian takeaway and so on? These foods are common examples people include when they have cheat/free/reward/refeed meals and may be the reason they dont progress. So what Scott? Youre telling me I cant have a free meal any more? No, I am not saying that at all. All I am saying is, be aware of what youre eating. If youre consistently making progress in a healthy way, your routine is probably working well. If youre not, could it be that your weekend is the limiting factor? Maybe the massive cheat/free/reward/refeed meal needs to be curtailed somewhat and a little bit more control imposed by making better, less extreme choices If you have taken a step forward this week, dont be be two steps back after this weekend. On that note, have a great weekend whatever you decide to do...or eat.
