Went to a family wedding on Saturday as the Unofficial - TopicsExpress

Went to a family wedding on Saturday as the Unofficial Photographer - I would never aspire to being the Official Photographer as I still have a lot to learn and dont want the responsibility of not doing the very best for people on their special day - would prefer to leave this to the Professionals. I took over 1000 photos of family and friends which I have now edited as well as miles of footage - stayed out of the way of the Professional and let her do her thing, even though this included constantly standing in front people, blocking the video of the ceremony which kind of left me gobsmacked, and generally showing very poor etiquette during the proceedings. Today she has posted 10 initial shots as teasers to advertise her work and business - and sadly they are very poor quality. Lots of glare, burnt areas etc. etc. They look as if they have had no post production and lack creative flare and quality. They have been taken with little consideration given to harsh light on faces and background clutter. It is very disappointing when some people think that if they buy a decent digital camera they can sell themselves as professionals. I have witnessed some very professional wedding photographers at work - and they could certainly teach this woman a thing or two. I now wish I hadnt been so courteous as I would then at least have got more of the important aspects of the ceremony for the Bride to fall back on... Im sharing this as Im sure this must be a common problem - but there are no second takes for weddings unfortunately!
