Went to a wonderful opening at the Metropolitan Museum featuring an amazing and very comprehensive collection of Studio Jewelry - jewelry that is made by the artist who designs it. These people are gifted and very original designers, as well as great artisans. The collection was given to the Met by Donna Schneier, who has been very involved in this field for many years, and she has amassed a definitive collection from the 1960s through to the present. It is a very visually exciting show (only a fraction is on display at this exhibition). The variety and originality of this jewelry is inspiring - some of it I love, some - not so much, but it is all interesting, and a whole new world of jewelry for those who dont know about this. Go if you can, or order the catalogue, and be amazed and inspired.
