Went to an event this morning to give some special kids backpacks and haircuts for school in Lex. 8:30AM I walk around behind this building and see someone asleep on the sidewalk up near a back door. They had their tennis shoes covered with a rolled up t-shirt to make a pillow, and had a ragged blanket over everything but just her little face...little face, she was stretched out totally and the entire length was less than 4 feet. I freaked out. I got close enough to make sure she was breathing and went running to find one of our ministers..I asked him to please follow me and as we went around the corner I pointed to the little bump under the blanket and asked him, What do we do? He looked at me calmly and said, We let her sleep. .......he then explained this is a common occurrence and we would just keep an eye out and when she woke up, we would feed her. She couldnt have been more than 10 years old. I cant help but wonder what was so bad that this was her best option for a nights sleep.
