Went to our doctor today for our regular check ups and everything still works in both of us, albeit a mite slower, but this post is not about our health, but what we saw while in the waiting room, a sight that we all will probably be seeing more of and this is just to tell all of you to be prepared, because visions such as this have not been seen in Selma since probably the late eighteen hundreds and this sighting was of a guy openly carrying a brace (pair) of pistols . Since the new hand gun law was passed, this is probably going to be a common occurence so just giving everyone a heads up to get ready for the initial shock of seeing something like this. Did not know the guy, do not know his personality, his background and frankly, I felt nervous with him sitting there and wondering why he felt it necessary to wear guns into the doctors office or even why he chooses to wear them openly at all. Concealed carry, with a background check, background check being the key here, and a valid concealed carry permit, I can understand. I have that type permit, but no one will ever know whether I have a weapon in my possession, unless they force me to use it to protect me or mine. The first time that you see a person toting a gun on their hip will probably shock you as it did Jobeth and me, and frankly, I think this open carry law is a bad law. There are folks out there in society that ought not even be allowed to own a firearm, but with this law in effect, anyone can strut around openly carrying a loaded weapon with no controls whatsoever to govern whether he or she can even legally own a gun. What was our legislature thinking when they passed this law? Excuse me, a thinking legislature is oxymoronic, I should know better than to make a statement like that.
