Went to see The Wind Rises with my parents and my boys. It is - TopicsExpress

Went to see The Wind Rises with my parents and my boys. It is truly a remarkable film! Even if there were no story, simply the music, beautiful watercolor backgrounds, and contrasting animations of nature, industrial machinery, and crowded city streets would be worth the price of admission. It is unlike any of Miyazakis other work, in the mature tone of the content. The story seems somewhat reminiscent to Howls Moving Castle and Ponyo in its structure: told like a fever dream. Its a history lesson, an incredibly detailed portrait of a particular time and place, a lovesong to aeronautical engineering, a romance, and an exploration of human ambition and devotion. Brilliant, beautiful, and Id see it again in a minute.
