Went to see Uzumasa Limelight at the Whitsell theater today, and I - TopicsExpress

Went to see Uzumasa Limelight at the Whitsell theater today, and I wasnt expecting much, but this has to be one of the best movies from Japan this year. Great cinematography, even better story, about an aging actor who is trying to eke out an existence as a famous Kirareyaku (role of getting killed in the chambara, or samurai movies/tv shows), while younger actors and directors fail to recognize these aging actors as national treasures that should be praised for their abilities, in the age of CGI swordsplay and cheap special effects... An insight into the realm of Japanese chambara making as well as the discriminatory nature against the aging actors where true art style gives way to talentless production values... A definite MUST SEE! https://youtube/watch?v=9f_46jO_HhU ok, it was made in 2013, but the acting and storytelling should make it an Oscar contender (it wont be, but it should)
