Went to see my Mother today. Although seeing her in this condition - TopicsExpress

Went to see my Mother today. Although seeing her in this condition does not bring a smile to my face, I must make sure to thank God that she is alive and continues to show steady progress. Her recovery is so much like the walk of a Christian. I have often called my walk a regressive progression. Her nurse today said she is in the mode of two steps forward, one step back. She had quite a substantial amount of blood drained from her chest cavity last night. She has some secretions in her lungs that they were using a compression type vibrator to loosen today as Dad, Margaret Fitzgerald, Dusty and I watched. It was hard on her in her weakened state and caused her to need some pain meds. I am sure it was deemed necessary to help her breathing ability and help to prevent her developing pneumonia. She was awake more today and as I spoke with her I could tell that she wanted to speak because she tried many times to remove the ventilator with her restrained hands. Both she and I had tears form in our eyes on a couple occasions, and after feeling it was better if I left her to rest than to stay and cause her to continue to struggle I left her again for the professionals to care for her. She finally had a bowel movement which is something that you really want to happen after surgery for a very positive sign that indicates that things are well internally. All of her organs are functioning properly and her blood pressure is fairly stable. I want to thank Judy Echols, Gina Simmons and Margaret Fitzgerald for taking Dad to see her today. All these ladies have been very close friends of the family for many years. I thank everybody that has taken the time to remember my folks in prayer, as I know that God hears them and indeed does answer them.
