Went to the Unitarian Universalists Center (its not really called a church) this morning and there was this awesome drum circle choir, as well as a teaching (I dont think UUs call it a sermon) about the importance of truth. The minister spoke about feminism, and how the feminist movement had changed society by speaking truth about womens lives. Cant tell you how much I loved hearing that said in a church. This is the only church I will willingly attend as they accept agnostics and atheists there and do not force feed any religion down your throat at all. They speak about feminism and also LGBT rights, and also racism, and economic rights. Its a totally awesome place and Im glad I went there today. I told the minister (Not sure what UUs really call the minister), and told him two of my favorite feminist quotes are about truth. Audre Lorde said, Your silence will not protect you, and Adrienne Rich wrote, Lying is done with worlds and also with silence. Ive never been to a church where the minister thought it was cool that I liked feminist quotes and that Im involved with NOW!
