Went to the big marina where we had been told a transit log could be purchased. Nope; not for a foreign flagged private yacht, although 3 other kinds of transit logs are available through that office. Must use an agent now, total cost 300TL ($157) for the 1-yr cruising permit. And the captain must have a license. Okay, all you American sailors who live in the land where no licensing is required to operate a boat -- better get licensed before heading overseas these days. Required in many countries in Europe and now also required in Turkey. Our captains licenses obtained via US Coast Guard served nicely.
