Were advancing a tragic story in a positive way on KMBC at 5&6 tonight. The loss of 14 year old Alexis Kane has impacted all of us as parents and as citizens of this community. Alexis was involved in SAVE-- Students against violence everywhere. Peggy Breit takes an in depth look at what this organization is all about. I believe that highlighting organizations that empower our kids can help them cope and contribute to society. Now, the irony of all of this is Alexis was moved to participate in SAVE because of the murder of Angel Hooper. Now, shes joined the growing list of children murdered. In talking to my 15 year old daughter about Alexis I realized just how impacted all of our children are by violence. If you have any ideas about empowering our children or any organizations you know about that help children let me know! I am always looking for stories that enhance our well being and our community.
