Were all packed and relaxing in our room in the Doubletree in Denver. Our flight leaves tomorrow morning and well be leaving the sunny front range of the Rockies for snowy cold New England. Brrrr... Sunday we flew along I-80 with a 30+mph tail wind and arrived in Cheyenne where the sun was shining and the temps were in the 60s! Chuck was in his glory--our hotel, the historic Plains Hotel is right across the street from the old Cheyenne Depot which now serves the freight trains running east and west for the Union Pacific RR. The depot houses not only a railroad museum but a brew pub! We visited the brew pub yesterday before we checked into the hotel. The Veterans Day commemorations werent until later in the day and so we wandered the quiet streets of Wyomings capital city before making our way to the RR Museum in the Depot. Lots of great information and a fascinating (at least the first 25 minutes of it for me... alas Chuck could probably have watched the entire 45 minutes) film on the Big Boys, the biggest and the last of the steam engines. Headed south to Fort Collins, Colorado, the home of Colorado State University. We couldnt take the tour of New Belgium Brewing Co because they dont do tours on Mondays. So we took another trip down memory lane and went to lunch at Coopersmiths Brew Pub a place wed dined 17 years ago on our way back to Denver after Jim and Carols wedding up in South Dakota. Great fun. Before I sign off from our final full day of our wonderful western adventure I wanted to congratulate Team Downie who had a breat Color Run 5K in Athens, Ohio. And finally to say thank you to my family members whove served in the military as well as all of the other veterans who are being honored today.
