Were appealing for information following an incident that occurred on Heol Derwen in New Inn at approximately 1.30pm yesterday, Monday 13th October. Three men called at a property offering to do some work on the drive of the property. £400 cash was handed over to the men but they didnt return to complete the work agreed. Two men are described as being 28-30 years old and of slim build. The third man is described as being in his 40s and of a larger build. They were dressed in casual clothes, the two younger men in jeans and the older man in dungarees and a high vis yellow jacket. The men were travelling in a white Ford Transit van - registration number HF63 XXJ. Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area or who has any information relating to this incident is asked to call 101 quoting log 268 13/10/14. The following advice is offered to residents to prevent them from becoming a victim of rogue traders: If in doubt keep them out! Check the identity of the caller by telephoning the company they say they are from. Check whether traders are members of the Local Authority Assured Trader Scheme or Government Trust Mark scheme Ask a neighbour or friend nearby to check out the caller before you open the door or agree to have work done Don’t be pressurised into having work done on the spot Never pay cash up front and never go to a bank or cash point with a trader If you suspect a rogue trader at your door call 999.
