Were baaaaaaa-aaaack. Back in the House! It is strange to go from the new guy to being the one trying to meet the new representatives and keep track of who is no longer with you. I dont like calling our new representatives Freshmen because that infers a lesser position. These men and women were selected by the voters and have earned their spot with all the responsibilities of representation as the rest of us! They have the same number of votes! The pace is already moving fast as the Speakers of both houses have already been elected and sworn in (Speaker Beth Harwell in the House, Speaker Ron Ramsey in the Senate), along with the confirmation of our Constitutional officers, Mr. Justin Wilson as Comptroller, Mr. David Lillard as Treasurer, and our own District Forty-fiver, Mr. Tre Hargett as Secretary of State. We are currently wrestling about the procedural rules of the house and waiting for committee assignments. Of course, the Inauguration of the Governor is coming up this Saturday. There are several ways to keep up on the issues. If you would like to look up legislators, specific bills, committees,etc., go to capitol.tn.gov . I will continue to send out The Latest newsletter - but I cant be in all committee meetings - so my updates are from my vantage point! You can sign up for The Latest at [email protected] .
